Steps to becoming a mortgage broker

Regardless of your previous working background, a career as a mortgage broker is attainable with our highly-regarded training and mentoring program and with the ongoing field support offered by your State Office team. We also allocate you a personal mentor during your first 12 months so you always feel connected.

Getting started

  • Certificate IV in Financial Services - To become a mortgage broker, you will need to complete the coursework for Certificate IV in Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage Broking). This is included as part of our training cost and must be completed prior to attending our highly regarded 2-week Induction program.
  • Industry-leading induction - our 2-week induction covers all aspects of lending, broking, software, sales, marketing, public relations, business planning and management - be warned, it’s pretty full on. However, our people tell us they come away from it equipped with hoards of useful information that they still refer to today.
  • Lender accreditation - once you have completed induction, our State Office team will arrange for you to become accredited with our panel of lenders.

 

Ongoing Support

  • Loan submission coaching - our Lending Support team at Group Office review your loan applications as part of our quality assurance check and they mentor you through the loan submission process. This not only assures our lenders that you, our mortgage broker submit high quality loan submissions, it also acts as an ‘on the job’ refresher to the induction training.
  • Mentoring - our Rookie Development Program ensures your development continues for your first 12 months in the Mortgage Choice business. You will have an experienced Mortgage Choice franchisee appointed as your mentor to guide and support you through our structured 12 month program, including you and your mentor sitting in each other’s interviews, your mentor providing guidance on loan structuring and applications, and assistance with using Mortgage Choice software.
  • Dedicated field support - our state-based management and field teams are dedicated to helping you define and achieve strategic goals, build and grow your business. This includes regular discussions and business reviews to help you constantly refine your business plans and achieve or exceed your performance benchmarks.
  • Development forums - we host monthly Rookie Development Forums which enable you to work with other Rookie mortgage brokers at a similar stage in their business development to you. The forums look at all aspects of your business and provide tips and tools to assist you along the way.
  • Free leads - to top it off, you will be fed a stream of leads that are generated from our national advertising campaigns. We believe they are critical for new franchisees as they provide a firm starting point for starting up a new business. There is comfort in knowing you will be assisted in getting the phone to ring in the early days.
