First Home Owner Grant Tasmania

In Tasmania, a First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) of up to $7,000 is available, as well as a First Home Builder Boost (additional to the FHOG) of $23,000.

The First Home Owner grant in Tasmania is not means tested and there is no cap on the value of an eligible home.

However, the FHOG will no longer be available for purchasers of established properties as of 1 July 2014.

In addition to the FHOG, Tasmania offers a First Home Builder Boost (FHBB), which is a payment of $23,000 for eligible applicants who are:

  • buyers of newly constructed homes (for example, ‘spec’ homes); or
  • builders of new homes (either as an owner builder or through a registered builder).

to be available at settlement or at the first progress payment if you are building your home.

If you apply directly to the Revenue Office,

funds will not be available until after settlement or completion of the home if you are building.
