What is happening to the First Home Owners Grant in WA?

May 22, 2017
Brett Mallott

The $10,000 First Home Owners Grant had been temporarily increased to $15,000 for any new homes signed to build between 1st January 2017 and 31st December 2017.

The new state government has reviewed the grant and decided to bring the date back to 30th June 2017.

What does this mean for you?

To receive the current $15,000 grant you need to enter into a building contract (signed and dated) by the 30th June 2017 or enter into a contract to purchase a brand new home that no one has lived in before 30th June 2017 (again signed and accepted before or on 30th June 2017).

After this date the grant will revert back to the original amount of $10,000.

Your loan doesn’t need to be approved by this date – as long as contracts are signed and dated you still qualify.

All other grant requirements continue as normal.
