Fremantle is a bustling, lively coastal suburb in Perth, Western Australia. It is steeped in historical significance and is a picturesque drawcard for travellers, an art and entertainment precinct for locals and a commercial centre for business.

Location
The port city of Fremantle is six km2 in size and located approximately 20km from the Perth CBD. It is bounded by the Swan River, East Street and Marmion Street in the north, Carrington Street in the east, Stevens Street, Edmund Street and South Street in the south, and the Indian Ocean in the west. It is a mixed use area, including residential, commercial, institutional, maritime and industrial land use.
Maritime
Fremantle is a colourful city with a rich and vibrant past, well known for its maritime and penal colony history. Fremantle Harbour has long been an entrance point for container ships, cruise ships, ferries and leisure craft. The nearby Success Harbour and Fishing Boat Harbour protect the city’s working and recreational fleets and feature an eclectic mix of eateries, entertainment and a brewery.
Heritage
Fremantle has been built on a series of limestone hills and many of its impressive heritage buildings have been constructed by convicts from this local stone. There are over 3,000 heritage listed properties in the area, with over 250 being classified by the National Trust.
Households
In 2016, the population in Fremantle had grown 7.1% since the 2011 Census to reach 8,214 people with a predominant age group of 25 - 29 years and an even balance in household structure.
The population of Fremantle is forecast to grow to 16,210 by 2036.
Property Market
After sitting around the $800,000 mark throughout 2016, the median sales price in Fremantle dropped drastically to $725,000 at the start of 2017. Since then it has slowly risen to sit around a steady and consistent $785,000 throughout 2018 and 2019, rising to its current $795,000 in January 2020.
In Fremantle, 1,415 dwellings are classified as separate houses and 1,232 are semi detached (row or terrace houses, townhouses, etc). Of these dwellings, 35% have three bedrooms and another 35% have two bedrooms.
42% of dwellings in Fremantle are rented, with a median weekly rent of $360. 26.9% of home are owned with a mortgage, with median monthly mortgage repayments of $2,167.
