Life goals, bucket lists, retirement planning, shopping lists. Do you?
These things are all simple to do but how many times have you gone shopping and realised when you got home that you forgot something because you didn't have a list written down.
Everyone has goals or things they want to do in life. Setting goals and planning how to achieve them is a lot like writing a shopping list. Taking the time to sit down and think about what you want to do in the future enables us to then identify what ingredients you need.
Most people will think about their plans, some will even talk about them with others but very few take the time to sit and write them down.
It does not have to be anything fancy, in fact make it fun by grabbing some coloured pens and just write down what comes to mind. What matters most to you? What are the rocks in your life that give you focus, stability or significance? Focus on the rocks and avoid the quick sand of the daily grind that will quickly swallow up your time if you do not focus in the rocks. By identifying the things that matter, you can start planning your future.
These plans certainly don’t have to be etched in stone but writing them down can have a profound effect on making dreams a reality.
Check out some amazing statistics about the importance of writing down your goals from Dr Tony Hayek and then start writing today.
As one of my mentors once told me “If it’s easy to do, it is also easy..not to do”.
