Ocean Reef is a coastal suburb in the City of Joondalup, located 30km from the Perth CBD. It is approximately six square kilometres in size, with ten parks covering nearly 6% of its total area. A dune walkway and cycle path hugs the coast from south to north, offering access to several small beaches, picnic areas, rest stops, and access paths into the suburb itself. A large protected dune area which is at times around 400 metres wide separates the houses from the Indian Ocean.

Ocean Reef contains three Primary Schools - Ocean Reef Primary School (public), Beaumaris Primary School (public) and Saint Simon Peter Catholic Primary School (private). It also has two high schools - Ocean Reef Senior High School (public) and Prendiville Catholic College (private).

In 2011 the population was 8,098, with a predominant age group of 0-14 years old. Households are primarily couples with an average of two children. 57.9% of people are working full time, with most people working in a professional occupation.
