Different options to get on the property ladder
Rentvesting
If you can’t afford the area you want to live in, then try rentvesting. Typically a rentvestor is a homeowner that chooses to rent in the area they want to live in and buys in an area where it may be more affordable.
Shared ownership
You may want to look into co-ownership as an option. For example, you could go 50/50 in a property with a family member or friend to help you get started with your property journey. With that said though. Make sure that you get plenty of legal advice beforehand.
Consider a guarantor
If you're looking to buy your first home but need help getting there, enlisting the help of a guarantor may be the answer.
If your parent goes guarantor on your loan, they don't have to pay the bank money or give you money. How it works is, they put their property up as security, and if you default on your loan, the guarantor is responsible for paying back the debt.
