Mortgage broker, John Kennedy of Mortgage Choice in Mudgeeraba, Robina and surrounding Gold Coast suburbs, keeps a close eye on the RBA announcements and what they mean to you.
It is now the ninth consecutive month that the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) held the cash rate at 2.5%. As a result of yet another month of the cash rate being static lenders are vying for customer’s business. There is real potential for savings, if you shop around.
Interest rates remain low
On occasion, when the RBA does not change the cash rate, lenders change their mortgage products.
The lenders are reducing rates and fees in order to secure your business. If we look at rates as of the 13th of May 2014, fixed rates were sitting around 4.75 % fixed for one year and the variable rate just a little higher at around 4.88%.
Each loan has its specific features and conditions, so come in for a chat about your situation.
The property market appears to be on the move
With the stability in the official cash rate people are more comfortable to spend and as a result property prices are creeping up. RP data research shows capital city dwelling values rose by 2.3% over the month of March.
