Attention all Signwriters and garden lovers!
Did you know that there is a permaculture food garden tucked away right in the suburbs - in Ashwood?
Yes, you too can be a part of this buzzing little gardening community and reap the bounty.
If you are new to the area, do not have the opportunity or know-how to create this type of garden for yourself, your garden is just a little too small, or you would like to learn more about how to do it yourself, think about becoming involved in a 'fruitful' community project.
Bees, chooks and green thumbs are a part of Ashwood at The Ashwood Permaculture Food Garden on Vannam Dr. and it has been growing for 8 years at a 2300sq. m. site at Ashwood High School.
Member Kathleen Ferguson said gardeners tended to the shared garden, which includes 70 fruit trees, a pizza oven, a worm farm, a water garden and shadehouse – and the best part is that everyone was welcome to come on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10am-2pm.
The group is nestled near a sign that reads ‘mulch 30m’ so the call is out for a signwriter to get them noticed.
