Anyone who clicks on our home page will see that Mortgage Choice at Sutherland, like many of our colleagues, is a proud sponser of Ronald MacDonald House Charities.
The National Franchise became a fundraising partner with the Charity in 2011 and since then Mortgage Choice franchisees have raised a tremendous amount of money through individual, state and national organised fundraisers.
Our connection at MC Sutherland with RMHC dates back eight years when our friends spent 7 months in a RMCH room at the Royal Melbourne's Childrens' Hospital while their newborn daughter fought and won a battle her battle for life.
Last week that connection became even more personal when our own teeneage son was suddenly incapcitated by pneumonia induced asthma and spent five days in Wollongong hospital.
Normally a fit, healthy boy with well managed asthma, the illness came totally out the blue. The severity of the attack and his resistence to treatment made it impossible for me to leave his side. After two nights of sleeping in a chair by his bed the fabulous nurses in the childrens' ward told me a room was available for my use for the duration of our son's stay.
Not only did the room offer a more comfortable sleeping alternative and the opportunity to be on hand until he went to sleep and before he opened his eyes, it also provided a haven where some moments of personal space could be stolen.
Thankfully we availed ourselves of the charity's help for a very short time compared to others. We were the lucky ones.
Mortgage Choice at Sutherland will continue to support this fantastic charity and urge you all to remember that you too might need their support when you least expect it. Until then, they definitely need yours.
