Pre-approval is the next part of the process, allowing you to get a conditional green light from your chosen lender. This means that you can bid at auction and make offers on properties you like - confident in your upper limit.
It can also give you a great bargaining chip with real estate agents, who will ask if you are pre-approved for your loan. It can make the process move much faster when you have found the home you want to buy.
