The western suburbs town of Floreat, located just 7kms from the Perth CBD, is certainly living up to it’s name. In Latin, Floreat means “let it flourish”, which is certainly the case for this vibrant suburb. Over the last 12 months, Floreat’s median house price has risen 5.1% and over the past 10 years by a figure of 8.9%. It is in very close proximity to beaches, parks and sporting facilities, which makes it a very attractive place to buy.
Floreat has always been known for it’s wealth of activity, but the proposed plans for the area are making it a much more family attractive place to live.
Bold Park Aquatic Centre
The famous Bold Park Aquatic Centre is in for a $12.25 million revamp, with a modern 10-lane, 50m pool to be the main attraction. It will also have high quality change rooms, a crèche, swim shop and cafes. The centre closed late in September and is expected to reopen in October 2015.
Wembley Golf Course
On the border of Floreat is the Wembley Golf Course, where a new hospitality precinct is nearing construction. The old tavern on the site will be replaced by a new restaurant and function centre, which is the final part of the precinct in need of an upgrade, after the driving range was modernised recently. There will also be the addition of a mini-golf course, which will give the course and its facilities a real family feel.
