Fantastic service from Gavin Rushack at Smartline. He got us a great mortgage deal, delaying papers a day for an interest rate fall to save us .2 of a percent. He followed things up and walked things through when we had issues with settlement. He answered/returned every call promptly and gave unprompted updates when he knew we were stressing out.
Face to face Gavin was friendly, knowledgeable and able to break things down free of jargon. My wife and I couldn\'t be happier and he has won my business for life.

My wife and I were first time buyers in Australia and Michael was every helpful and informative. I was extremely impressed by the level of service provided by Gavin Rushack. So much so that I have already sent around an e-mail to my friends recommending him. Below is a copy of that e-mail. Feel free to use it. Dear All, I just wanted to announce to everyone that we’ve officially moved into our new house in Sorrento, drop in anytime if you’re in the area. House warming to come so watch this space. Also I wanted to share with you a great experience I had with organising our loan for this property. After coordinating with my personal relationship manager at Commonwealth Bank to get the best comparison interest rate possible, I offered Gav Rushack (a private Mortgage Broker) the opportunity to beat it. Not only did Gav beat it but he beat the Commonwealth Bank’s own offer! On top of that Gav secured all the terms I needed (interest only, drawn down, offset, no fees, etc), he also helped with the offer and assisted with settlement. But the best benefit was Gav changed all my other investment loans at CBA down to the same low interest rate that he secured, this action alone saved me several thousand a year on interest repayments and was something the CBA didn’t mention they could do. On top of that Gav’s service is totally free so it didn’t cost me a cent but saved me many thousands. For all of you out there in mortgage land I would strongly encourage you to check in with Gavin to make sure you are getting the best deal possible, because I am yet to meet anyone who is paying the same low interest rate as the one Gav secured for me. I've had a couple dramas with my bank making errors post settlement. I tried to sort them out first by myself but it was frustrating and time consuming as I was being given the run around. But when I got mike involved, the issues were all sorted out for me and without stress
I had used Mortgage Choice previously (2003)and found the file I was given to keep my documents in very handy. This time I was not given anything to put my documents in and I was disappointed. I know it is only a little thing but it is the little things that sometimes make a big difference between lenders.

In our case it would have been advantageous for the process to have been pushed along to formal approval stage earlier instead of assuming that the bank had all the information it required for approval to be granted.
