With many flood-affected families still rebuilding their homes and businesses, a free night of dinner, drinks and good conversation has helped them forget their struggles, if only for a few hours.

Mortgage Choice congratulates its Ipswich franchise owner, Nick Cook, and his staff for their impressive efforts in readily assisting as recently as yesterday those devastated by the summer floods.

Last night the team continued its show of support by holding a dinner for flood-affected customers and their families at the newly rebuilt Hogs Breath Café in Ipswich.

More than 70 adults and children joined the town's Mayoress, Mrs Janet Pisasale, and local Councillor Mr Andrew Antoniolli at the event. So too did senior staff from the Commonwealth and ANZ Banks and from Mortgage Choice head office in Sydney.

"The dinner and drinks night was a family-friendly event organised to help lift the spirits of our numerous flood-affected customers and a thank you to those who lent us a hand. It also provided some income to Hogs Breath, which has been out of action since the floods occurred and has only recently reopened," said Mr Cook.

He and the other local representatives of Australia's largest independently-owned mortgage broker have worked around the clock over the past weeks to ensure their customers receive as much help as possible in sorting out their home loan and insurance situation. They also found time to get involved in the Ipswich area clean-up efforts.

Nick describes the experience as being rewarding and part and parcel of their job.

"Without the Ipswich community's ongoing support our business would not exist. My team and I were compelled to help those who help us and others in the local area who needed someone to look out for them," he said.

"Knowing people in need have benefited from the office's contributions provides us with tremendous satisfaction."
